Gibraltar–Morocco ferry service ends as both sides look to reopen links

HM Government of Gibraltar · Medias24Jul 2026

The ferry service between Gibraltar and Morocco, operated by DFDS, came to an end in July 2026 following the new arrangements at the Gibraltar/Spain frontier. The Government of Gibraltar thanked the operator and partners for a service that, for the Moroccan community in Gibraltar, had sustained close family, cultural, religious and economic ties with Morocco.

Ministers have stressed that reconnecting the two shores remains a priority. Gibraltar's Minister for Business and Tourism has set out efforts to establish new maritime and air links with Morocco, and talks with Rabat on reopening direct routes are continuing.

For GMBA members, direct connectivity underpins trade, professional exchange and the movement of people across the Strait — making the reopening of a reliable link one of the association's most closely watched files.
