IMF expects Morocco to grow 4.5% in 2026, with jobs the key test

IMF · Morocco World NewsOct 2026

In its October World Economic Outlook, the International Monetary Fund projected Morocco's economy to grow by about 4.5% in 2026, before easing to 4.2% in 2027. The forecast sits alongside the High Commission for Planning's more optimistic 5% estimate and recent World Bank figures.

Growth is being powered by a strong agricultural recovery and sustained public investment, including the roughly $20 billion Morocco is channelling into rail, roads, airports and stadiums ahead of co-hosting the 2030 World Cup.

The IMF cautions that turning growth into jobs — particularly for young people — remains Morocco's central economic challenge, a point echoed across recent international assessments.
