Tangier Med becomes largest port in Africa & the Med

Tangier Med has grown into the largest container port in the Mediterranean and Africa by capacity. Its four terminals now handle a combined capacity of around 9 million TEUs, after the Tanger Med 2 expansion — a roughly €1.3bn investment — tripled throughput from 3 to 9 million TEUs.

Adjacent to the port, a large free-trade zone hosts major manufacturers including Renault and Stellantis. For firms weighing a presence in northern Morocco, the port's scale and connectivity are central to the case.
